About Me
Hi, I'm Dulce Martinez, and I'm a licensed mental health counselor with a passion for helping individuals navigate through life's challenges. With over twenty-five of experience in health care services, I specialize in EMDR therapy, sex therapy, and individual counseling. I am dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment for my clients to explore their emotions and work towards healing.
I graduated with a master’s degree in Counselor Education, from Florida International University. My experience includes working in community mental health, sexual assault counseling, and private practice with a focus on trauma, as well as intimacy and relationships. In addition, I work as an adjunct professor of psychopathology, at Barry University, on an as-needed basis.
Prior to pursuing a career in counseling, I worked in an acute care setting for over twenty years; First, as an intensive care room nurse, later, as a case manager in the emergency department.
I am fluent in English and Spanish.
My Approach
I believe in a collaborative and empathetic approach to therapy, where I work alongside my clients to identify their goals and develop a personalized treatment plan. I draw from evidence-based practices and tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each individual.
My approach consists of helping individuals gain a deeper understanding of the patterns that keep them from living a more fulfilling life. I do this by examining the influences that impact their current thoughts and feelings, such as family patters and cultural beliefs. In practice, I use a variety of interventions from family systems theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and trauma-informed therapies to provide my clients with education.
